European Market

   

Markets are finishing the year without major evolution puzzled by bearish fundamentals and fears linked to cold wave on Black Sea basin. Temperatures in Kyiv have dropped to -11° this morning and -9° in Moscow. Lowest temperatures will be reached within 3 days. The lack of snow cover is worrying operators.

Market will close at 2 pm today on Euronext and will resume normally on Monday 4^th of January.

Jordan bought 100 000 t of wheat, optional origin at 218 $/t cost and freight. South Korea has launched a tender to buy 50 000 t of soybean.

Rapeseed prices were in little move with crude oil prices still depressed and palm oil supported by drop of production in Malaysia.

The euro is steady vs dollar at 1.0930 this morning.

 

 

 

Wheat, harvest 2015, quotes at 160 €/t  on a July basis for a quality 76/220/11, delivery Rouen

Chicago wheat trades to an equivalent of  158 €/t  for March 2016 delivery.

Durum wheat, harvest 2015, trades at 265 €/t nominal delivered Port La Nouvelle., standard quality

Rapeseed, harvest 2015, quotes at 374 €/t nominal FOB Moselle, February 2016 delivery.

Feed barley, harvest 2015, quotes at 154 €/t  July basis for standard quality, delivery Rouen.

Malting barley, Sebastian variety, harvest 2015, quotes at 181 €/t July basis, FOB Creil.

Corn, 2015 harvest, trades at 156 €/t on a July 2015 basis, FOB Bordeaux, next delivery

Feed peas trades at 200 €/t on an August 2015 basis FOB Creil

Sunflower, harvest 2015, quotes at 400 €/t nominal, standard quality, equivalent Saint-Nazaire,next delivery

 

 

 

 

American Market

 

American cereal markets were in decline while soybean was sustained by export business.

Ethanol production rose during the week to 992 000 barrels/day vs 973 000 last week. It was not enough to boost corn prices.

Yesterday, funds were net sellers of 5 000 lots of corn and 4 000 lots of wheat. They were net buyers of 4 000 lots of soybean. Thus, at the moment there is no short covering before the end of the year.

 

Corn March 2016, closed at 3.59 $/bushel, -3.50 cents from previous day.

Wheat March 2016, closed at 4.6975 $/bushel, -6 cents from previous day.

Soybean March 2016 closed at 8.7025 $/bushel  +4.50 cents  from previous day.

Soy meal March 2016, closed at 267.60 $/t, -2.40 $/t from previous day.

Soy oil March 2016, closed at 31.07 cents/lb, +0.30 cents from previous day.

 

 

Black Sea market

 

Russian export numbers in December should hit a record with 3.85 Mt vs 2.99 Mt last year. Top performance is for wheat with 3 Mt vs 2Mt in December 2014. Main destinations are Egypt with 22%, Turkey with 16% then Saudi Arabia with 9%.

For Ukraine, corn exports are predominant by now, with Europe as main outlet. Behind is coming Egypt, Tunisia and Israel. From the beginning of 2016, China could be back to the front of the stage.
