European Market

   

Small volumes in a deceptive calm before New Year’s Day celebrations.  Weather conditions could come back on stage with an alert issued by Agritel’s office in Kyiv about a risk due to freefall of temperatures in coming days and insufficient snow cover. It looks a bit better in Russia but not enough to prevent all risks.

On energy market, we can notice a strong rebound of gas prices these last few days while oil is staying close to lowest levels. The euro continues to consolidate around 1.0930 vs dollar.

American markets will stay open all day tomorrow and Euronext will close at 2:05 pm.

Rapeseed prices are in small evolution, supported by soy bounce back and the good performance of palm at monsoon time in Malaysia and risks of lower production.

 

 

 

Wheat, harvest 2015, quotes at 160 €/t  on a July basis for a quality 76/220/11, delivery Rouen

Chicago wheat trades to an equivalent of  159.60 €/t  for March 2016 delivery.

Durum wheat, harvest 2015, trades between 265 €/t nominal delivered Port La Nouvelle., standard quality

Rapeseed, harvest 2015, quotes at 374 €/t nominal FOB Moselle, February 2016 delivery.

Feed barley, harvest 2015, quotes at 154 €/t  July basis for standard quality, delivery Rouen.

Malting barley, Sebastian variety, harvest 2015, quotes at 181 €/t July basis, FOB Creil.

Corn, 2015 harvest, trades at 155 €/t on a July 2015 basis, FOB Bordeaux, next delivery

Feed peas trades at 200 €/t on an August 2015 basis FOB Creil

Sunflower, harvest 2015, quotes at 400 €/t nominal, standard quality, equivalent Saint-Nazaire,next delivery

 

 

 

 

American Market

 

Technical adjustments on American markets at the end of this year. Fundamentals are still mostly bearish on nearly all products and funds are tuning their positions.

Yesterday, they were net buyers of 2 000 lots of corn, 3 500 lots of soybean and 4 000 lots of wheat. It’s on wheat that short position is the largest and the market could benefit from a technical correction.

Corn market is still struggling, pushing producers to refrain from making sales due to lack of profitability.

 

Corn March 2016, closed at 3.6250 $/bushel, +1.50 cents from previous day.

Wheat March 2016, closed at 4.7575 $/bushel, +9.25 cents from previous day.

Soybean March 2016 closed at 8.6575 $/bushel  +4.50 cents  from previous day.

Soy meal March 2016, closed at 270 $/t, + 0.90 $/t from previous day.

Soy oil March 2016, closed at 30.77 cents/lb, +0.33 cents from previous day.

 

 

Black Sea market

 

Little evolution on Russian cereals market with FOB prices around 190 $/t for 12.5% proteins wheat. Fall of the ruble generates a rise on home market that government is trying to eradicate by implementation of the export tax decided a few months ago.

Temperatures between -10° and -20° are expected on Black Sea basin for next days and could jeopardize crop weakened by a too dry autumn.
