European Market

Markets stabilized yesterday after early week sharp decline. A few elements have led to positions buy back. First of all, weekly export certificates reached 1 027 272 t, the highest from the start of the season, taking the total to 11.4 Mt from the beginning, including 3.85 Mt fro France. Decline of wheat prices and drop of the euro allowed European origins to show competitiveness. As promised, Argentinian government has cancelled export taxes on wheat and corn and left the peso losing ground vs dollar reaching 13.5 at the bottom of ttraders’ expectations of 13.5 / 14.5 range. It makes 30% of devaluation.  

 

 

Wheat, harvest 2015, quotes at 161 €/t  on a July basis for a quality 76/220/11, delivery Rouen.

Chicago wheat trades to an equivalent of  163.90 €/t  for Mars 2016 delivery.

Durum wheat, harvest 2015, trades between 270 €/t nominal delivered Port La Nouvelle, standard quality.

Rapeseed, harvest 2015, quotes at 370 €/t nominal FOB Moselle, February 2016 delivery.

Feed barley, harvest 2015, quotes at 153 €/t  July basis for standard quality, delivery Rouen.

Malting barley, Sebastian variety, harvest 2015, quotes at 181 €/t July basis, FOB Creil.

Corn, harvest 2015, quotes at 15 €/t July basis, FOB Bordeaux.

Sunflower, harvest 2015, quotes at 405 €/t nominal, October delivery, equivalent Saint-Nazaire.

 

 

American Market

American market Rebound of soybean yesterday in Chicago, as a consequence of perspective of very dry conditions in Mato Grosso at crucial stage of crop development. Decisions from Argentina about export taxes are integrated in prices. Weekly export data was inside traders’ expectations on soybean but below on wheat. Markets should consolidate today.  

Prices provided below are now for the 2015 harvest.

 

Corn Mars 2016, closed at 3.7425 $/bushel, +4.50 cents from previous day.

Wheat Mars 2016, closed at 4.84 $/bushel, + 0.5 cents from previous day.

Soybean Mars 2016 closed at 8.7775  $/bushel  +14.50 cents  from previous day.

Soy meal Mars 2016, closed at 277.60 $/t, +5.80 $/t from previous day.

Soy oil Mars 2016, closed at 30.31 cents/lb, - 0.29 cents from previous day.

 

  The Russian Minister of Agriculture published its first estimate of production of cereals for 2016 at 104 Mt vs 103.4 Mt this year. Authorities gave a first outlook of winter crops. Out of the 16.3 M ha planted this year (vs 16.8 M. ha last year), 1.8 M ha have not sprouted. Nevertheless, we can notice that crop conditions are slowly improving, especially in the south of the country, with favorable weather conditions. Thus, very mild temperatures allows fields to take profit from the rains of last week.
